Uncle of raped, murdered four-year-old girl arrested in Khanewal
Police on Sunday, June 27, arrested a man in connection with the murder of his four-year-old niece, whose body was found stuffed in a gunny sack in some fields in Basti Azizabad, Khanewal district, a day before.
Initial reports suggested the girl was raped before being murdered. Following the discovery of the victim’s body, her family and locals staged a protest against the police, blocking the Jahanian Bypass and the railway track.
The girl’s family claims that the girl had gone missing four days ago while she was out playing, however Kohna Police refused to register a missing complaint and suggested they look for the toddler on their own.
Multan Regional Police Officer (RPO) Syed Khurram Ali managed to disperse the protesters after assurances of due justice, and suspended the Station House Officer (SHO), while the Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani suspended the Saddar District Superintendent of Police for negligence.
Karachi man shoots dead wife, mother-in-law for ‘disobedience’
One Ishaq Khan on Saturday, June 26, shot dead his wife, 22-year-old Ramsha, and mother-in-law, 50-year-old Kausar Riaz, for disobeying his orders in Landhi’s Sherpao Colony in Karachi.
According to the police, the accused had barred his wife from going out without his permission and taking to people on the phone. In protest, she moved back with her parents.
On Saturday, the accused went to his in-laws’ home to reconcile with his wife and, upon her refusal, opened fire on her. He also shot his mother-in-law when she tried to rescue her daughter before fleeing.
Police have recorded eyewitness statements and launched a search for the absconding suspect.
Two women injured in armed attack at Sahiwal court
One Sikandar Khan of Adda Sharianwala was apprehended by a lawyer and passersby after he shot and injured his niece and a lady constable on the premises of the lower courts in Sahiwal on Saturday.
The assailant had accused his niece and her alleged paramour of murdering her father in 2020 over some family dispute. Upon her acquittal by Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Ghafoor, Sikandar opened fire, shooting his niece in the stomach and a female officer, Tahira Munir, in her right elbow.
Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to a district headquarters (DHQ) teaching hospital for treatment.
