Hindu girl murdered after gang-rape in Bahawalpur
A Hindu girl was tragically raped and killed in what is reported to be a gang-related incident in the Cholistan desert near Qasim Wala Bangla, within the jurisdiction of Derawer Police Station. Her lifeless body was discovered in close proximity to the Bhutta Canal on Thursday. The girl’s father disclosed that she had been taken away while she ventured into the desert for personal hygiene purposes during the midnight hours.
As per a statement from a police spokesperson, the postmortem examination of the girl has been conducted, and we are currently awaiting the official report. Three individuals have been apprehended in connection with the incident.
Two Convicted to Life in Rape Case in Sargodha
Two individuals have been sentenced to life in prison for a rape case, while a third was acquitted due to insufficient evidence. Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Salman Ghumman delivered the verdict.
The incident involved Sajawal Masih, Arif Masih, Zahid, and an unidentified person who forcibly entered a home, where they tied up a 40-year-old woman and sexually assaulted her in front of her husband on February 22, 2022, in Chak 88-NB. The accused also subjected her to physical abuse using cigarettes.
Saddar police filed charges under Section 375-A for gang rape based on the husband’s complaint. Zahid and Sajawal Masih were sentenced to life in prison and fined Rs100,000 each. Arif was acquitted due to insufficient evidence, while the fourth suspect remains at large.
Man Arrested for Sexually Harassing and Groping Woman in Karachi
Karachi police have arrested a man captured on CCTV footage sexually harassing and groping a woman in the Samanabad area. The incident led to public outrage on social media, prompting swift action. The suspect, identified as Asif Ali from Bhingoria Goth, Azizabad, and operating a mobile bakery service on his motorcycle, abandoned his vehicle at the crime scene before fleeing.
The police have filed an FIR invoking relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and continue to investigate the case. This incident follows a similar incident earlier this month and a viral video from July, both involving public sexual harassment of women.
