Alleged In-Law Torture Claims Life of Woman in Taxila

A woman in her mid-twenties reportedly died as a result of torture inflicted by her in-laws in the Toheedabad area, under the jurisdiction of Taxila police station, on Wednesday.

According to Mutabar Khan’s statement to the police, his niece, Nabeela Bibi, had been married for four years but was unable to conceive a child.

He claimed that her in-laws subjected her to frequent abuse due to her infertility, and on Wednesday, they allegedly beat her until she succumbed to her injuries. Subsequently, her body was transferred to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) hospital.

 

Teacher Fatally Shot by Gunmen in Bara; Investigation Underway

Schoolteacher in Bara killed by unidentified gunmen. The victim, Sakhi Afridi, was shot while returning home from work. The police cordoned off the area, but the gunmen escaped.

The motive is unknown, but the teacher had previously been targeted and survived an attack in 2004. The police are investigating the case. In other news, Taj Mohammad Afridi, the caretaker minister for relief and rehabilitation, donated 10 tents to government schools in Bara that were affected by a windstorm.

Currently, there are 52 tent schools in Bara with 50,000 students. The minister has promised to provide more tents as the previous ones have worn out.
