ISLAMABAD: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would provide around 4000 tear gas shells and masks to protesters participating in the Pakistan Tehrik Insaf’s ‘Long March’ to the federal capital, sources have confirmed to Voicepk.net.
According to the sources, there is a serious threat of conflict between protesters and security personnel deployed when PTI workers are likely to besiege Islamabad from two sides – Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The federal government has deployed around 17,000 security personnel including paramilitary troops. According to sources, the security personnel comprises 5000 police officials from Islamabad police, 500 police officials from Sindh Police, 6,500 Frontier Corps troops, and 6000 Rangers troops.
The sources said the federal security personnel would retaliate in case of armed individuals accompanying protesters in the Long March, adding that individuals with weapons would be treated as miscreants.
The provision of tear gas shells and gas masks to protesters has increased the threat of a conflict between security personnel and protesters during the Long March, the sources added.
Pakistan Tehrik Insaf has announced resuming its Long March to the federal capital from Thursday. The march was postponed after former prime minister Imran Khan was injured during firing on his container truck in Wazirabad.
