Toddler critical after being raped by teen in Chiniot
Police are on the hunt for a 16-year-old boy accused of raping a three-year-old girl in Jamal Jatti area within the limits of the Saddar police station. According to the rape survivor’s father, the accused sexually assaulted his daughter while she was playing outside her home on Wednesday, April 14. The girl is now in critical condition at a hospital and police are awaiting her medico-legal report.
Man, woman gunned down for ‘honour’ in Swat
A man on Wednesday surrendered himself and his gun to Saidu Sharif police, confessing to shooting dead his wife and her alleged paramour for so-called ‘honour’. The suspect claimed that he had gotten to know about his wife’s alleged affair with another man and returned to Batora village to murder them. He also revealed that he had married another woman.
Exiled PTM activist’s father granted bail
Professor Muhammad Ismail, father of exiled Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) activist Gulalai Ismail, was granted bail by a court after on April 12 and is expected to be released from the Peshawar Central Jail, where he had been imprisoned for the past two months, today.
The 66-year-old academic and his wife Uzlifat Ismail have been charged with financing terrorists, while Prof. Ismail faces charges for allegedly disseminating anti-state and anti-military content on his social media. Rights activists and international organizations have condemned his arrest and the cases lodged against his family as overt attempts by the state to pressure Gulalai Ismail into silence.
