Girl freed from ‘serial rapist’ couple

Karachi police have charged a couple with a series of child abductions and rapes after freeing a minor girl from their captivity. The girl was recovered in a police raid on a house in Thatta. The couple, Ghulam Rasool and Zeba, confessed to kidnapping and raping many children.

Rape on the motorway: Senate body summons IGP on 16th

The Inspector Generals of Punjab police and Motorways along with the Communication Secretary will appear before Senate Committee for Human Rights on September 16 in Islamabad over the gangrape of a woman on the Lahore motorway.
Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said CCPO Lahore Umar Sheikh has also been summoned to clarify ‘remarks’ about the rape victims. He said authorities will submit a final report to the Senate committee.

Pindi police fail to file charges in 12,000 cases

Rawalpindi police could only file a charge sheet in courts of only one-third cases out of 18,569 cases registered from January 1 to July 31.
Police failed to submit final challans in 12,888 cases of theft, robbery, murder, kidnapping, abduction, and rape in the city’s 30 police stations.
The police instead chose to submit charge sheets in minor offences including the sale of kites, vagrancy, alcohol consumption and gambling.

Punjab reports 788 suspected dengue cases

A total of 788 suspected cases of dengue fever have been reported during the last 24 hours in Punjab. Health officials said suspected patients were undergoing dengue tests after being placed in surveillance. There have been 45 cases of the virus in Punjab this year.
