12,600 cases at 4 child protection units in Sindh
Over 12,600 cases were registered in child protection units (CPU) in Larkana, Dadu, Shikarpur and Jacobabad by parents and service providers, according to speakers at a press conference in the Jacobabad Press Club on Monday, December 7. The meeting was organized by the Sindh Child Protection Authority (SCPA), the Legal Rights Forum (LRF), and the department of social welfare.
It was stated that the SCPA had handed over CPU in Dadu, Larkana and Shikarpur to the the social welfare department, while the LRF was operating four units under a child protection project.
Missing woman found dead after rape
A married woman and mother of four from Thatti Bala Raja in Jhang, Punjab, who was abducted by three men on November 8 was finally discovered buried in a crop field in Lalian, Chiniot.
According to the police, the family had initially appealed to the prime suspect for her release, however he denied any involvement. Following this, the family registered a complaint with the police, who nabbed the prime accused on December 1. He eventually confessed to repeatedly raping the woman over the course of several days before killing and burying her.
Police managed to recover the body which has been shifted to the tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospital in Lalian for an autopsy.
Youth drugged, gang-raped in Thikriwala
A seventeen-year-old boy was drugged and then gang raped by three men in Chak 74 JB Thikriwala, Punjab.
According to the complaint registered by the rape survivor’s father, a resident of Bawa Chak 120 JB, the youth was returning home from work at the Soldier Loom factory when accused Shankar, Shani (alia Bala) and another unidentified man lured him to Ambanwala Bagh and drugged him with a spiked beverage. The three men then proceeded to rape the unconscious boy, and then abandoned him on a motorcycle near a market before fleeing.
Millat Town police have filed a case against the absconded suspects under section 377 (unnatural offences) of the Pakistan Penal Code. No arrests have been made as of yet.
