Minor hospitalized after rape in Lahore

A minor has been hospitalized in critical condition after she was allegedly raped by a shopkeeper in Lahore’s Nawab Town locality. Police have arrested the suspected rapist, who according to the victim’s family, had raped the 7-year-old girl after luring him into his shop.

Girl commits suicide over marriage dispute

Depressed by the family’s refusal to marry a boy of his choice, a teenaged girl committed suicide in Chakwal by shooting herself with a pistol. Police said the girl wanted to marry a boy from another caste but the family insisted that she marry her first cousin.

Motorist killed in police fire

A man has been shot dead when police officials open fired at his car while crossing a checkpoint on the motorway in Peshawar’s Chamkani locality. Motorist Umar Farooq was killed in the police firing as he crossed a checkpoint on the Motorway, his co-rider Sahibaz Ali said in the first investigation report.

Hunger strike over Shia missing persons

Several family members including women and children have participated in a hunger strike camp at Numaish Chowrangi in Karachi to highlight the plight of Shia missing persons. Speakers said they would continue their struggle for the recovery of the Shia missing persons some of whom have not been seen since the last five years. Leaders of the Joint Action Committee for Missing Shia Persons said enforced disappearances were against the law and the Constitution, adding that the victims should be brought before courts if they had committed any crime.
