Acid attacker freed as the court finds no harm caused

An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi has acquitted an accused who threw acid on his wife in August, saying no harm was indicated in the medical report. Nazak Ali had been accused of attacking his wife Aysha Bibi with acid and fleeing afterward by locking her room. Aysha Bibi said she would appeal the verdict in the higher courts.

SHC orders JIT to recover missing persons in Dadu

The Sindh High Court has directed police officials to constitute a joint investigation team to recover 10 missing persons from Khairpur Nathan Shah tehsil in Dadu. The court was hearing petitions from family members of Sarfaraz and Abdullah reported missing since 2019 and 2017 respectively.

Child pornography ring leader given death

A court in Rawalpindi has sentenced Sohail Ayaz to death for abusing and uploading pornographic videos of 30 children on the dark web in November 2019. The court said the act of the accused is inhuman and ‘worse than a beast’. His co-accused Khurram Tahir was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment. Ayaz, a chartered accountant, had been a convicted pedophile in the United Kingdom and Italy prior to working as a consultant with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

7-member cell to oversee minority rights in Sindh

The Sindh government has formed a seven-member cell for coordination and implementation of the Shoaib Suddle Commission report on minority rights in the country. The cell would be chaired by Secretary Services of Sindh Services and General Administration (S&GAD).
