‘CII tasked with forced conversions definition’

The Council of Islamic Ideology has been tasked with preparing a draft definition of forced conversions, Senator Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar told a parliamentary panel. The CII official informed the Parliamentary Committee to Protect Minorities from Forced Conversions that the council’s research wing was working on the definition.

Death row convicts acquitted after 10 years

The Lahore High Court has acquitted four convicts including two on death row, in a Faisalabad murder case after ten years. In their appeal, the defense had argued that the presence of witnesses at the scene of the crime could not be proven. The court acquitted death row convicts Gul Sher and Muhammad Farooq and life term convicts Usman Ali and Muhammad Ali of the charge of murdering Muhammad Ali in December 2010.

3 cops booked for torture but no arrest yet

Police in Faisalabad took three months to register a case against its three cops for torture, extortion, and illegal detention of a man and his brother. Yasir had accused ASI Mian Abbas of torture and illegal detention after a scuffle with cops Faizan and Nisar for refusing to pay extortion in form of petrol and cell phone recharge.
