No leniency for abusers of women: IG Punjab Police

Inspector General (IG) of Police Punjab Inam Ghani on Monday, July 5, issued directives to the Additional IG Investigation Punjab Fayyaz Ahmed Dev to ensure justice is served to a rape survivor from Kasur during a brief.

Although Ghani denied reports of the involvement of police personnel, he stated that action was taken against the Training Assistant Sub-Inspector for delaying the registration of the FIR in the case. IG Operations revealed that four accused have been apprehended while the search for the others is still ongoing.

Ghani stated that leniency is not a luxury reserved for those accused of crimes against women.

Man shoots wife dead outside Charsadda court

On Monday, one Salman opened fire on his wife Irum outside the Charsadda District Judicial, killing her on the spot and seriously injuring his sister-in-law Somia.

According to the survivor, her sister had approached a family court regarding a domestic dispute with her husband.

Police arrested the accused while an accomplice was able to escape. A case has been registered.

Man shoots dead woman for rejecting marriage proposal

One Ghulam Hussain shot dead a young woman in front of her mother outside a pharmacy at Aziz Fatima Road in Faisalabad. The suspect was caught and beaten by passersby before he was handed over to the police.

Hussain confessed he had wanted to marry the victim but she had turned down his proposal. Police have arrested the suspect and have procured CCTV footage of the incident for further investigations.
