Women mutilated, killed in separate cases

A woman and her friend were allegedly attacked and mutilated by the former’s brother-in-law and his son. The two men reportedly held the women by force and then chopped the victims’ noses off using a knife before escaping. Police however have managed to apprehend the suspects, while the victims are receiving treatment for their injuries at Ghazi Khan Medical College teaching hospital.

Meanwhile, Kausar Bibi of Tain village in Lora, Abbottabad, was allegedly murdered by her in-laws in June. The deceased’s in-laws had initially told her parents that she had fallen down the stairs; upon shifting the body to a hospital, a doctor had informed Kausar Bibi’s parents that she had been dead for several hours. Further, the deceased’s family discovered torture marks and scars on her body during her ritual cleansing before burial. Police have arrested three of the victim’s in-laws on the complaint of the family: Khizar Abdul Majeed, his wife Yasmeen, and Tajammal Shafat.

Minor boys sexually assaulted

Police arrested Muzaffar Abbas, Mubarak Ali, and Tajamul Hussain arrested for the repeated sexual assault a teen boy over the course of six months and filming the ordeal in order to blackmail the victim’s family. According to the boy’s father, the victim was forced to keep silent by his rapists under the threat of releasing videos of his sexual assault online. The videos were also used to extort money from the boy, who was eventually pushed to attempt suicide but managed to survive.

On the complaint of the father, police managed to apprehend the suspects, and recovered over 50 videos from their possession.

Meanwhile, a 12 year old boy of Mir Hassan Shar village in Khairpur, Sindh, allegedly gang raped by men on July 18. He was rescued when his screams of protest alerted nearby villagers, who also managed to capture one of the alleged perpetrators and turn him over to the police. An FIR has been filed on behalf of the victim’s father, while the other four accused are still at large.

Suspect questioned for minor boy’s murder

The body of an eight-year-old who was reportedly raped and murdered was discovered on Sunday, July 19 in the bathroom of the under-construction house of a neighbor in Sohawa of district Mandi Bahauddin in Punjab. The owner of the house where the deceased was found has been taken in for questioning.

According to the victim’s father, the boy had gone missing while the family, who are resident of Dhok Kasib village, were visiting relatives in Sohawa. After an hours-long search, a neighbor alerted the family of a body in the bathroom of his property. The boy’s mouth had been stuffed with mud and bloodstains were discovered on his body – an autopsy revealed that the child was sexually assaulted before being murdered.

9 arrested under Child Marriage Restraint Act

Jaranwala police lodge a case against nine suspects over the attempted marriage of a 12-year-old girl. The police were alerted that the girl, a minor, was being forcefully married to an adult man, Ghulam Murtaza (27), and arrived in time to stop the ceremony. While the guests were able to flee the scene, nikkah registrar Inayat Ali and the bridegroom were apprehended immediately. A total of nine people have been nominated in an FIR filed by Assistant Sub-Inspector Liaqat Ali under the Child Marriage Restraint Act of 1929.
