Grenades, gun found in Margalla Hills
The Islamabad Capital Territory Police Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) on Sunday recovered three grenades, a gun and around 50 rounds of ammunition from a bag discovered along Trail 5 of Margalla Hills.
The bag also contained a map of important buildings in Islamabad, as well as a threatening letter addressed to judges and military generals. The letter was issued by an unknown organization dubbing itself the Tehreek Tahaffuz Namoos-e-Pakistan.
According to a Dawn report, the letter decried the economic situation of Pakistan, the justice system, and the military’s role in politics. Meanwhile, under directives of the Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has launched a search operation has been launched un the Sabzi Mandi area and Shams Colony.
Policeman killed in N. Waziristan target killing
A police constable was killed in an alleged targeted attack in Miranshah, North Waziristan, on Sunday. The victim lost his life when he was fired upon by unknown assailants on his way back home from work.
Meanwhile, Bar Qambarkhel tribal elders held a jirga in Takia Qaumi Markaz in Bara tehsil of Khyber district on Sunday, and expressed grave concern over the rising number of target killings in the region. The jirga denounced the inability of law enforcement agencies in curbing target killings, and lent its support to the Bara Siyasi Ittehad’s decision to hold a protest and refusal to bury future victims.
CTD official killed in Quetta target killing
A head constable of the CTD was gunned down by unknown assailants in Quetta. The victim was reportedly sitting with his friends outside a shop on Jail Road late Saturday night when motorcyclists opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.
