Young man, woman murdered on pretext of karo-kari
One Himmat Ali Brohi on Wednesday, May 19, shot dead his 18-year-old sister Nisa and their relative Muhammad Ishaq Brohi (alias Meer) under the pretext of karo-kari in Imamuddin Brohi village, Jacobabad.
The bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital for autopsy before being handed over to their kin. They were buried in separate graveyards. Maula Dad police have yet to register a case as per reports.
Woman shot dead by second husband’s nephew
50-year-old Rizwana Bibi was shot dead by her second husband’s nephew in the Sapyali Bangial area of Gujar Khan on Wednesday. According to the police, the accused had a dispute with the woman. The deceased has been shifted to a hospital while the suspect is still at large. A murder case has been lodged on the complaint of Rizwana’s husband.
Police torture youth arrested on a ‘misunderstanding’
One Waqas, a resident of Jamil Town, was arrested and tortured by Dijkot police but later released when it turned out he was arrested on a misunderstanding during interrogation in a case.
Police had registered a case against Waqas and his brothers Waqar, Shahbaz and Naeem for chanting slogans, blocking a road, resisting police and threatening to kill them.
The youths’ family claims Waqas was getting medicine when he was intercepted by police – they carried out a protest on Samundri road against Dijkot police but were dispersed after negotiations with the Factory Area DSP.
