LAHORE
Faisalabad Police have registered a case against a woman and her husband under sections 295-A, 295-B and 295-C, and 298-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for allegedly committing blasphemy.
The first information report (FIR) was lodged by a private complainant who is an MBBS doctor by profession.
As per FIR, the accused woman and her husband allegedly endorsed the claim of prophethood made by the sister of the accused woman.
The video of the accused woman and her sister went viral on social media after which a charged mob gathered outside the house of the alleged blasphemy accused in Faisalabad, and chanted slogans demanding death for the alleged blasphemers.
The mob attacked the house and damaged the vehicle parked outside.
Realising the sensitivity of the issue, high-ranking police officials including City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi arrived at the scene and addressed the mob. Rizvi assured the mob that strict action will be taken against the blasphemers and they would be “executed” as per law after completing due process.
In order to pacify the enraged crowd, the CPO told agitators that he himself would look after the investigations to ensure that no loophole was left to ascertain the death penalty.
