Woman Allegedly Tortured and Burned by In-Laws Dies in Lahore
A woman died in Lahore after being tortured and set on fire by her in-laws in Kahna. The woman, Naureen, struggled for life for 16 days before dying in the hospital.
The victim had given a statement to police before her death implicating her husband Raheel, her mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law.
The police arrested all four accused and registered a case against them. The woman’s body was shifted to mortuary for post-mortem examination.
PBM Establishes First-Ever Shelter Home for Transgender Community in Tarlai
Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM) has established its first shelter home for transgender people in Tarlai, Islamabad.
The managing director of PBM, Amir Fida Paracha, inaugurated the shelter in a ceremony attended by Director General of Ministry of Human Rights Mohammad Arshad and others.
The shelter is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Human Rights and PBM, and aims to provide a protected and hygienic environment for the transgender community.
The shelter will offer temporary accommodation, meals, and a clean atmosphere to up to 10 transgender people, with plans to expand if successful.
