Five students suspended for classmate’s torture at Lahore school

Five students, including the victim, were suspended by a private school in Lahore after a video surfaced on social media showing four students punching and kicking their classmate.

The incident has also caught the attention of the National Commission on Rights of the Child, who has directed the School Education Department secretary to submit an inquiry report.

The school has named three senior faculty members to investigate the incident and take disciplinary action against the students involved, with the possibility of expulsion.

The victim’s father has also filed a first information report and approached the Federal Investigation Agency for action against those who uploaded the video on social media.

 

Man who killed daughter in the name of honor will not face terror charges, rules ATC

An anti-terrorism court has ruled that a man who allegedly murdered his daughter in the name of honor will not face terror charges.

The man, Ameer Jan Mehsud, shot and killed his 19-year-old daughter, Hajira, and injured two other people on the premises of City Courts.

The court ruled that the terror charge does not apply in this case because the accused had no intention of creating terror. The case has been registered under sections of premeditated murder, attempted murder and assault.

 

SHC issues notices to law officers in cases of missing persons from Karachi

The Sindh High Court has issued notices to federal and provincial law officers in cases of missing citizens from different parts of Karachi.

The petitioners have alleged that several individuals were picked up by law enforcement agencies and their whereabouts are unknown. The court is requesting information on any cases registered against the missing individuals and their whereabouts.

The court has also expressed dissatisfaction with the progress reports submitted by the investigation officers for the recovery of missing persons, and has directed the home secretary to hold monthly provincial task force sessions regarding the missing persons cases.
