Teenage boy raped and murdered in Karachi

KARACHI: A teenage boy was allegedly raped and murdered in Karachi’s Bahadurabad area on Thursday, according to police and hospital officials.

The police, while confirming the incident, said that “an unidentified and tortured body of a child was found near the Alamgir Hospital”. It was later moved to the Jinnah Postgraduate and Medical Centre for legal proceedings.

A woman, identified later as Samreen Javed, brought the dead body to the hospital in her car and asked an Edhi Foundation ambulance worker to take him after which she fled the scene. The police traced her through her car and on investigation arrested her and her son, Farhan Javed, a bodybuilder for the murder.

During the initial interrogation, the two told the police that they had hit the boy with a rolling pin for stealing Rs20,000, adding that they tried to treat the boy at home, but they took him to the hospital when his condition worsened. The boy was identified as Aftab and he belonged to Punjab.

Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed reported that the boy, aged between 12 and 14 years, was dead on arrival at the hospital. She further noted that “His body showed marks of severe torture and autopsy findings are highly suggestive of anal rape” and added that the initial investigations hinted at asphyxial death. The toxicology and histopathology report has been send for confirming the cause of death.
