KP lawyers hold strike over colleague’s arrest
Lawyers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa held a province-wide strike on the call to condemn the arrest of a senior colleague in the Dua Zehra case.
Mansehra police had arrested Munir Hussain Lughmani, an advocate of the Supreme Court, over allegedly sheltering the young missing couple. According to Lughmani, police had arrested him in the case despite his transit bail in the case till June 12. Bar councils and associations had resented Lughmani’s illegal arrest and given a strike call. Lawyers called on the government to take action against police officials involved in the illegal arrest. Lughmani was later released from police custody on bail.

Soldier martyred in North Waziristan attack
A Pakistan Army soldier was martyred in an attack on a check post at Datta Khel in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on June 2, according to an announcement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
A statement from ISPR said terrorists fired at a military post in the general area of Datta Khel. Pakistani troops initiated a prompt response and effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, the ISPR added.
“However, during the intense exchange of fire, 28-year-old Sepoy Hamid Ali, a resident of Sargodha, having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat.”
The ISPR said sanitization of the area was being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area. “Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers will not go unpunished,” the ISPR statement concluded.
