Sister punished over brother’s ‘love marriage’
In the Burj Keeway Khan village of Okara, some six armed men barged into a house and shot dead a 16-year-old girl, Ayesha, and her 4-year-old nephew. Ayesha’s brother had contracted a free-will marriage with the assailant’s sister a few weeks ago. According to the police, the attack was retaliation for ‘dishonoring’ the family.
Parents cannot be charged with the kidnapping of their own children: LHC
According to a new order of the Lahore High Court, parents cannot file a case of abduction of their own children against each other as the authorities do not have the power to interfere in such family matters.
Pakistan’s first Sikh (Government) school nears completion
First public school for Peshawar Sikhs nears completion. Construction on the school began some 2 years ago. The land for the school was procured using an aid grant of 20 million Rupees while the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is paying for the construction of the building.
