Girls’ bodies recovered from Faisalabad sewage drain

Faisalabad police has recovered dead bodies of two girls aged 22 and 24 from inside a sewage drain running through the city. Post-mortem reports have suggested that the girls were tortured. The police have lodged an FIR against unknown suspects.

35 women killed in Gujrat this year 

According to Gujarat police records, 35 women were killed in incidents of honor killing and other forms of domestic abuse during 2021. Although police claimed to have arrested 40 of the 85 suspects allegedly involved in the murders of these women, none have been convicted.

Demand for amendment in Islamabad Local Government Ordinance

The teaching and non-teaching staff of the schools run by the Federal Directorate of Education on Thursday gave the government a 10-day deadline to amend the Local Government Ordinance or else they will suspend all educational activities from January 10. Under the Local Government Ordinance, the Federal Directorate of Education’s schools will be handed over to the local government. Protesters say the local government lacks the capacity to run these schools
