Man tortures, rapes, immolates woman in Sheikhupura
Factory Area Police on Sunday, September 5, claimed to have arrested a man for torturing, allegedly raping and setting a woman on fire before https://youtu.be/IfPdNC–gIstrying to get rid of her by dumping her in a canal in Sheikhupura.
According to police, the suspect, Ahmad, wanted to marry the 32-year-old woman. However, she had married someone else which dismayed the accused. The woman’s husband is reportedly employed abroad.
On Saturday, Ahmad abducted the victim from her home in Kot Abdul Malik and took her near the Khanpur canal where he raped her. He then doused her in petrol and set her alight. When she fell unconscious, he tossed her into the canal.
A group of Chinese employees of a nearby grid station heard the rape survivor’s cries and alerted Rescue 1122 who pulled her out and shifted her to the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital. She was later shifted to Mayo Hospital in critical condition due to suffering burns to 40% of her body. An Anti-Women Harassment Cell team also reached the ward to arrange medical care for the victim.
The Factory Area police station lodged a case on behalf of the state, and arrested the accused after recording the victim’s statement. Ahmad has reportedly confessed to the crime.
Gujrat teen dies after ‘gang rape’
An 18-year-old girl died during treatment at the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital in Gujrat on Saturday, September 4, after she had been allegedly gang-raped in Ghazi Chak. The victim’s family claims she died after she overdosed on tranquilizer administered by the prime suspect, however police claim initial investigations suggested the girl had committed suicide by taking pills.
The victim’s mother registered a case against the prime suspect, Salman, and his two accomplices at the Gujrat Saddar police station, claiming that her daughter had been abducted by the three suspects outside her home on Friday, September 3. She stated that they tranquilized and raped the victim, eventually abandoning her in a nearby housing colony near Kathala after her condition deteriorated.
She was shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital where she passed away.
A case was lodged under sections 302 (punishment for intended murder), 337-J (causing injury to head or face), 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), and 375 (rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code against one nominated and two unidentified suspects, while Salman has been reportedly arrested.
Salman’s family however have submitted an application with the Gujrat District Police Officer (DPO) that he has been falsely charged. Meanwhile, an autopsy has been performed to determine whether the victim was sexually assaulted and swabs have been sent to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency. Police are awaiting results.
11 booked for gang-raping woman in Faisalabad
Mamu Kanjan Police have registered a case against 11 men for allegedly gang-raping a woman.
According to the rape survivor’s complaint, she was on her way home from a neighbouring village when three men on a motorcycle abducted her and took her to a nearby lake where they took turns to rape her. The suspects then called their accomplices who also individually raped the woman before fleeing.
