Two women murdered in separate incidents in Rawalpindi and Chakwal
A 30-year-old woman who had been living on her own since the death of her parents in Dhermond village in Talagang Tehsil, Chakwal, was found dead in her home on Wednesday, February 11.
According to the deceased’s brother-in-law, he had found her home padlocked from the outside when he had gone to visit her that morning, and that she did not pick up any of his calls. He later returned with his son and elder sister-in-law in tow, and had his son scale the wall and unlatch the gates. They later discovered the woman’s lifeless body in a room.
Police believe that the woman may have been murdered by her relatives as she had 8 kanals of land to her name. They have also yet to determine if she had been raped before being killed.
In the second incident, a married woman had been gunned down by unknown persons in her home along Dhoke Banaras Road, Rawalpindi, on Wednesday. According to the victim’s husband, there was no one save his wife, Naheeda Taj, at home when the incident transpired.
Khawaja siras protest police apathy after murder of two trans women in Gujranwala
Khawaja siras on Wednesday staged a protest outside the CPO office against Ladhaywala Warraich police’s refusal to register a case pertaining to the murder of two trans women, Sanam and Zaini, in the Madu Khalil area on Tuesday.
According to the protesters, the victims were set to leave for a function when four unidentified motorcyclists barged into their home and gunned them down. They further alleged that the police had refused to lodge an FIR against the unknown suspects. The demonstrators dispersed after assurances from senior police officials that action would be taken against the policemen who failed to lodge their complaint and the early arrest of the involved criminals.
ANP announces rally against enforced disappearances
The Awami National Party (ANP) on Wednesday announced that the party will launch a protest rally for the immediate recovery and trial of missing persons in court per law during a press conference at the Bacha Khan Markaz. ANP leaders, denouncing the enforced disappearance of the party’s Balochistan information secretary Asad Khan Secretary on September 26, 2020, stated that the protest will take place on February 22.
Party leaders also reiterated their concern over the marked rise in target killings and regrouping of terrorist outfits in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in Dir, Swat and Buner.
