
19 child abuse cases reported in the past three months in Punjab
The Office of the Punjab Ombudsman received a total of 19 complaints of sexual assault and abuse of children across the province in the past three months. Of the reports received, ten were boys and nine were girls aged between two and fifteen years. One of the cases involved a differently-abled girl who was raped while alone at home – the prime accused in the case was apprehended by Sahiwal police.
The complaints were received from Bahawalpur, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Jhang, Kasur, Okara, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Toba Tek Singh and Vehari.
Malakand differently-abled persons deprived of government aid
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has issued 357 wheelchairs and distributed Rs. 7.12 million in aid to 2,292 of 10,114 registered differently-abled persons in the province in the past decade. The remaining 7,465 registered persons have gone years without any assistance from the provincial welfare department.
40 kidnappings reported every day in Punjab
A total of 12,230 abduction cases were reported in Punjab from January to October, of which a little over half were not pursued for various reasons, including registration of fake or misleading cases. Cases involving children are on high priority as there has been a notable surge in such incidents since 2016, and especially after public backlash over the Kasur child pornography incident.
