83 women slain over honor in Lahore this year
Honor killings have surged in Lahore with the murder of 83 women in the current year, according to police data. Police said suspects had been charged in 62 cases while 21 cases were under investigation. SSP Investigation Abdul Ghaffar Qaisrani said 80 percent of the accused were arrested. Experts say police must include Section 311 along with Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code to rule out a pardon in an honor killing cases.
Another child found murdered in Peshawar
A missing seven-year-old girl has been found dead in Peshawar’s Badaber area in the second such gruesome killing within a week in the locality. Angry residents blocked the Indus Highway in protest after Aalia’s burnt dead body was found in a graveyard. She had been reported missing since November 18. Earlier, a minor boy was found dead in the locality on November 14.
Man arrested for sister’s murder in Dadu
Police in Dadu has arrested a man for the alleged murder of his 16-year-old sister reportedly over refusal to an arranged marriage with a cousin. The family had earlier told police that she died from the accidental firing of a gun in the house. However, SSP Dr. Farrukh Raza Malik said police lodged a murder case after investigations.
JuD chief gets 10 years jail term
Hafiz Saeed, chief of banned Jamaatud Dawa (JuD), has been sentenced to 10-year imprisonment on charges of terror financing in Lahore. An-anti-terrorism court also sentenced co-accused Malik Zafar Iqbal, Yahya Mujahid, and Professor Hafiz Abdul Rehman Makki in the terror financing cases.
