Probe into the custodial death

A judicial inquiry has been launched into the custodial death of a narcotics case at Mirpur police station in Abbottabad. Police denied allegations from the family of Chan Zeb that he was tortured to death saying he was found dead in lockup after his arrest for possession of the drug ‘ice’ on November 12.

Only 77 rape convicts in the last 6 years

Only 77 offenders have been convicted out of the 22,000 rape cases filed in the country since the last six years, a news report quoted data from the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan. Data says 1,192 rape suspects acquitted, courts decided 1, 274 cases. At least 4,060 rape cases under trial across the country.

Ghotki money lender who married minor arrested

Ghotki police have arrested a money lender allegedly for kidnapping and marrying an eight-year-old girl whose father had failed to repay a Rs 100,000 loan. Police said the girl has been safely recovered while it has arrested Attaullah Kulachi who loaned Fida Hussain Leghari on hefty interest rate four months ago.
