Covid spreads rapidly in Punjab schools
COVID is spreading at an astonishing rate in public schools across Punjab as 1,004 students from nursery to matriculation tested positive in the last two months. Hundreds of health teams were sent by the provincial government and 317,917 children were tested.
Shops to shut at 6 pm in Sindh
The government of Sindh decided that all businesses excluding essential services will be closed on Friday and Sunday while business timings have been set from 6 am to 6 pm. Other restrictions imposed to reduce the rapid spread of COVID include obligatory face masks for all, banning indoor weddings, and shutting down indoor gathering places.
Country nears 3,000 daily cases
The total number of daily cases has neared 3,000 as 2,954 COVID cases along with 48 deaths were reported in 24 hours. A total of 1,322 cases were reported in Sindh, 333 cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 36 in Balochistan, 537 in Islamabad, 16 in Gilgit Baltistan, and 80 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
18 deaths in Punjab
Health authorities in Punjab reported 630 new cases after which the provincial tally increased to 115,138. There were 18 fatalities in the last 24 hours which caused the death toll in the province to climb to 2,879.
