Performer allegedly raped by cop
On Sunday, October 25, a policeman was arrested on account of allegedly raping a performer in Lahore’s Garden Town. According to the rape survivor, she had been hired to dance at a party in a hotel in Garden Town, but was subsequently raped by the suspect who then managed to flee.
The police were successful in putting the suspect behind bars. The Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Inam Ghani acknowledged the atrocious act and directed an inquiry report from the Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO).
Boy allegedly raped by teacher
A ten-year-old boy was allegedly raped by a teacher in a hostel in the outskirts of Ahmadpur East, Bahawalpur district. The boy was moved to the tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospital for a medico-legal examination, while a case has been lodged against the accused.
Elderly couple accused of blasphemy
On Sunday, Changa Manga police arrested a senior couple residing in the Rehman Pura locality of Kasur, Punjab, for presumably desecrating the Quran. On the complaint of one Afzaal Ahmed Anjum, a neighbor of the accused couple, an FIR was lodged under section 295-B (defiling the Holy Quran) which carries a life term. The police retrieved numerous copies of the Quran from the couple’s abode.
According to the complainant, he had had been receiving info for the past month that the accused were defiling copies of the book, but was able to catch them in the act on Sunday. Phool Nagar residents staged a demonstration for levying blasphemy charges against the seniors. The couple was transported to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
