7 government school teachers infected

COVID-19 test results of seven teachers of a government higher secondary school in Peshawar Cantonment came back positive on Tuesday, September 15. The swabs were collected a week ago, and tests are to be carried out again to determine whether the infected teachers have recovered and can resume their duties. As the teachers did not come into contact with any student, there is no threat of transmission.

A government high school in Charsadda has been sealed for a week after two teachers and a staff member contracted the virus.

Pakistan pandemic situation

Four succumbed to the novel coronavirus disease on September 15 – three in Sindh and one in Gilgit-Baltistan, raising the national death toll to 6,393. 499 individuals managed to recover on the same day, maintaining the country’s recovery rate at a steady 95.9%. Total active cases stand at 5,936.

341 fresh cases were reported in Sindh, while 101 recovered, bringing active cases in the province to 2,416. 129 COVID-19 patients were detected while 167 recovered in Punjab. Active cases in the province now stand at 1,033.
