KARACHI

Martyred guard Iftikhar Waheed’s brother Riaz Waheed has been grieving since the day he was shot down by the terrorists in the PSX attack. But at the same time, he is proud of his brother for displaying courage in the face of such a fearsome situation.

“My brother showed bravery and was shot in the chest for it,” he says. “But he fought hard in front of the terrorists.”

According to Riaz, the martyred Iftikhar was a simple natured man. He was a patriot and a gentleman both, who received an honourable death through martyrdom, fighting for the sake of his country.

Ten people were killed in attack at the PSX (Pakistan Stock Exchange) in Karachi on Monday morning when four terrorists stormed the place. As soon as the terrorists got out of the vehicle, they started firing with modern and automatic weapons. The private guards stationed at the security of the building put up strong resistance. The terrorists opened fire and threw grenades, two terrorists were killed at the entrance gate by the security guard while the rest of the terrorists managed to enter the building but only for a few yards ahead before they were shot down.

Although the Rapid Response Force, police and Rangers fought against terrorism very bravery, guards of two private security companies also played a significant role and got martyred.

Speaking to Voicepk.net the son of another martyred guard Ibad Waheed said that his father had only three days left to retire, but little did he know that he was going to retire from this world itself. “He taught us to sacrifice for the country, and we are ready to give anything up for it,” says his son.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Chinoy, Director PSX said that the eternal sacrifice of the martyrs will always be remembered. We will bear all the costs of their families and provide for their children’s education and all their needs.

Two others who deserve tribute are Rafiq Soomro and Khalil Jatoi, the young officers of the Rapid Response Force who risked their lives to stand up to the terrorists without caring about life and death. They did their duty for the security of the country and saved the lives of many people.

Earlier DG Sindh Rangers Major General Umar Bukhari and Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon held a joint press conference at Sindh Rangers Headquarters. Umar Bhukari said that the intelligence agency of the neighboring country RAW was involved in supporting the terrorists.

“We understand that hostile agencies are making efforts but we know who is doing what,” he said. “We have started working against them and we will destroy them.” Furthermore the DG Rangers added that the attack was not a failure of intelligence as the terrorists were eliminated within ‘eight minutes’. “This is the combined achievement of all the agencies,” he said.
