China Donates Masks
China donates 500,000 masks to Sindh including 50,000 N95 masks as the province’s infected rise to 413. Sindh CM also approves purchase of 3.2 million personal protective equipment, 100,000 testing kits & 290 ventilators.
Activists Distribute Masks
Scouts and social activists hand out more than 500 masks & hand sanitizers to passersby & traders in Mingora bazaar. People urged to adhere to precautionary measures & practice social distancing while masks were distributed.
Ration Warehouses Opened
Islamabad opens 4 ration warehouses & deploys 15 mobile langar khana to distribute food to the needy. Food items to be distributed in collaboration with Ehsaas & Saylani programmes – food donations encouraged.
Thalassemia Patients Deprived
Thalassemia patients in Sindh may be deprived of transfusions as blood supplies in hospitals deplete & donors stop showing up. Government urged to facilitate transport of patients as doctors also appeal to people to donate blood.
Overcrowded Prisons
Peshawar High Court judges decry overcrowding of Central Prison Mardan, & district jails in Swabi & Nowshera. Authorities directed to hasten construction of prisons, release of 18 prisoners under trial for petty offences ordered.
Sahiwal Prisoners Screened
110 quarantine centers set up in 6 prisons in district Sahiwal, ensuring one cell with an attached washroom per prisoner. Infrared digital thermal guns used to screen approximately 33,000 inmates – no cases detected.
