Reports of a heartbreaking incident emerged on Friday, from Kallar Syedan in Bhakkar district, where a nine year old boy was killed after being subjected to severe physical abuse by a seminary cleric.
Muhammad Faizan was a resident of Bhakkar. He had come to the outskirts of tehsil Kallar Syedan, in the village of Nala Musalmanan, about four months ago for religious education. The madrassah cleric, Qari Sanaullah had himself expressed the desire to take Faizan with him to Kallar Syedan and provide him with religious education under his supervision, after which the family allowed the child to go along with him.
Three days ago, the madrassah informed the family that Faizan had fallen ill and had been transferred to a hospital in Rawalpindi.
The family rushed to Rawalpindi from Bhakkar, but the child had already passed away by the time they reached. The family took the body back to Bhakkar, believing it to be a natural death due to an illness. However, the matter came to light after the boy’s clothes were removed for ritual cleansing of the body (ghusl) and the family members noticed deep gashes on the body signifying violence.
Following this, they contacted the police, and the body was brought back to Kallar Syedan. The police took custody of the body, conducted a post-mortem at THQ Hospital Kallar Syedan, and then handed it over to the heirs.
Meanwhile according to initial police sources, the madrassah’s Qari Sanaullah has fled the scene after the incident.
