The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) organized a protest outside the Karachi Press Club, on Saturday, October 11, demanding the arrest of those responsible for the murders of journalists Tufail Rind and Imtiaz Mir in Sindh.

Journalists, photojournalists, and media representatives from various organizations participated in the demonstration and said that over 200 journalists have been killed across the country so far, yet the government had completely failed to arrest their killers.

The leaders stated that the government does not want the truth to reach the public, which is why incidents of journalists being killed particularly in Sindh are increasing. They said such attacks are a serious blow to press freedom and reflect the alarming apathy of state institutions.

The brother of slain journalist Imtiaz Mir alleged that the police are under the influence of powerful figures and are showing no seriousness in arresting the culprits.

Protesters demanded that the murderers of the journalists be arrested immediately, impartial investigations be conducted, and concrete steps be taken to ensure the protection of press freedom in the country.
