Female Students Protest Land Allocation for Boys’ College in Swat

LAHORE

Female students in Khwazakhela, Swat, staged a protest on Tuesday against the government’s decision to allocate the land of their girls’ college for the construction of a boys’ college. The protestors, mainly students, rallied with placards and chanted slogans to demand the reversal of the decision, which they claim is unjust and unfair to them.

The protesters expressed their dissatisfaction with the government’s move, calling it a violation of their rights to education. They emphasized that the land on which the girls’ college currently stands had been used by security forces for 15 years before the college building was made operational. The college, which had faced a period of inactivity, was eventually reopened to serve the educational needs of female students in the area.

During the protest, many students spoke of the challenges they faced when the college was finally reopened. They claimed that after its reopening, miscreants had set fire to 15 classrooms, causing significant damage to the building.

The protesters firmly stated that the construction of a boys’ college on the same land was not only impractical but also unjust. They called for the establishment of the boys’ college at a different location, asserting that the land should remain dedicated to the girls’ college to support the growing demand for female education.

The female students warned that if their demands were not met, they would stage a sit-in in front of the college to continue their protest until the government reconsidered its decision.
