ISLAMABAD:

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir held a hearing at the Islamabad High Court regarding the recovery of 14-year-old Anila Khalid Masih, who went missing from the jurisdiction of Khana police station in Islamabad on June 24. The police produced Anila in the court.

The court ordered that the girl’s statement under Section 164 be recorded. Later, Anila was sent to Darul Aman.

After the hearing, the girl’s counsel, Muhammad Gulzar, told Voicepk that the police had not been taking adequate steps to recover the girl.

The court had previously instructed the SHO and the investigation officer to recover the girl or face suspension.

Social activist and minority rights advocate Safdar Chaudhry said that Anila is a minor, who has been forcibly converted – Appeals have been made to all human rights institutions for her recovery, leading to the petition in the Islamabad High Court”.

Expressing relief, Anila’s father, Khalid Masih, said, “The court has recovered my daughter today. We hope she will be returned to us soon.”
