Unidentified men abducted journalist and poet Ahmad Farhad from his residence in Islamabad in the early hours of May 15.
Ain Naqvi, the poet’s wife, reported the incident to the Lohi Beer Police Station, alleging that masked men forcibly entered their home at 1am, and forcibly took Farhad away in a vehicle.
The police have not yet filed a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the abduction. The Islamabad police deny that Farhad is in their custody.
Farhad’s poem ‘Mujhe Utha Lo’ (Take Me Away), which critiques enforced disappearances, gained instant popularity. He has also been vocal on social media platform X, advocating for the rights of Kashmiris.
In a recent post on X, Farhad revealed that he has faced threats due to his reporting on the Kashmir rights movement.
The circumstances surrounding Farhad’s abduction have raised concerns about the safety of journalists and activists in the region.
