Deadly Twin Blasts Rock Mosque at Hangu Police Station, 5 Killed, 12 Injured

Two suicide blasts occurred at a mosque inside the Doaba police station in Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing five and injuring 12. The attackers, in a vehicle, faced resistance from police officers at the mosque entrance. One attacker was killed outside, and the other entered. Quick police response led to worshippers’ evacuation.

Heavy machinery was deployed to retrieve bodies and rescue the trapped. Six injured were critical. No group claimed responsibility. Peshawar Corps Commander commended police and condemned the attackers. KP’s caretaker Chief Minister sought a report, imposed a hospital emergency, and expressed condolences. Terror activity has risen in KP following the TTP’s ceasefire termination. In August, there were 99 militant attacks across Pakistan. The army pledged to uphold peace and stability in KP.

Four soldiers were martyred in a clash with TTP terrorists as they attempted to infiltrate Pakistan from Afghanistan on September 28 at 5:45 pm (PST), according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The soldiers, identified as Havildar Sattar, Lance Naik Sher Azam, Lance Naik Adnan, and Sepoy Nadeem, fought valiantly to thwart the terrorists’ infiltration attempt.

During the confrontation, the security forces also eliminated three terrorists and injured several others. The ISPR emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to countering threats to peace and prosperity in the country. In a separate operation, security forces killed three terrorists in Tirah, Khyber District, following reports of their presence in the area. Pakistan’s efforts in the fight against terrorism were highlighted by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, who called for recognition of the country’s significant sacrifices.

Additionally, the interim Afghan rulers reportedly arrested 200 suspected militants involved in attacks against Pakistan and took measures to neutralize terrorist activity in bilateral talks with a high-level delegation from Islamabad. This discussion followed a previous incident in which four soldiers lost their lives defending Pakistan Army check posts near the Afghanistan border.
