Missing 7-Year-Old Girl Found Dead, Uncle Accused in Gujranwala
On September 20, 2023, in Gujranwala, a seven-year-old girl missing for three days was tragically found dead in a drainage channel in the Khayali area. The police revealed that her uncle, accused of abducting and assaulting her, ultimately strangled her and disposed of her body in the channel.
Law enforcement and rescue teams conducted an extensive operation to locate the victim’s body, which was eventually found and taken to a hospital. Surveillance footage played a pivotal role in identifying the suspect in this heart-wrenching case.
11.7m women added to voter list, but vast gender gap remains
Pakistan has narrowed its gender gap among voters by adding 11.7 million women to the voter list since 2018. The country now has 127 million registered voters, up from 106 million in 2018, but there’s still a 10 million gender disparity.
The majority of eligible voters are aged 18 to 35 (45%), with the 36 to 45 age group contributing 21.88%. Punjab has the highest number of voters at 56.9%, followed by Sindh (21%), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (17.1%), and Balochistan (4.2%), while Islamabad has over a million voters.
Woman allegedly raped at gunpoint in Khurrianwala
A married woman was allegedly raped, police said.The police started raids to find the accused after registering a case.
According to the police report, the victim, a resident of Chak No. 471/GB, had registered a case with police which stated that she had been going to the market from home when suspects Akhtar and four others allegedly kidnapped her at gunpoint.
