The Islamabad Police on Thursday arrested one Qari Naeemullah after a video of him violently beating a minor madrassah student during Quran lessons went viral on social media.
The accused was recorded thrashing the boy, who is in the fetal position, with a shoe, a stick and then his own fists in the presence of other children of the same age. Another man is then seen intervening to stop the beating.

A spokesperson for the Islamabad Police confirmed to Voicepk.net that, after the video went viral, the prayer leader was apprehended by officers from the Sabzi Mandi police station and booked under section 337 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) which deals with acts that cause any hurt or injury to the body.
The spokesperson mentioned that the action was taken in response to specific directives from Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, the Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO), as part of efforts by the Islamabad Capital Police to safeguard the lives and properties of citizens.
The case has been now been brought before the courts and further developments in the matter are yet in progress.
The Chief Police Officer (CPO)/DIG Operations emphasized a zero-tolerance stance towards violence against children, assuring that all possible measures will be taken.
Parents are urged to enrol their children in madrassahs and educational institutions, keep themselves informed about any such incidents, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the local police station or the “Pukar-15” helpline.
