LAHORE: Pakistan has arrested six fishermen for illegally hunting in Pakistan’s territorial waters, according to a spokesperson for Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PSMA).
The fishermen aboard the Indian boat “Krupa” were fishing illegally inside Pakistani waters in violation of maritime law, the PMSA spokesperson said. Maritime Security personnel seized the Indian boat and detained a crew of six fishermen. The impounded boat and the detained crew were handed over to the police for further legal action after an initial investigation, according to the PMSA spokesperson. On September 27, the PMSA also apprehended two Indian fishing boats along with 16 crew members.
According to a list of prisoners shared between India and Pakistan on July 1, there were 682 Indian prisoners detained in Pakistan including 49 civilians and 633 fishermen.
