18-year-old girl burned to death by parents in Jhelum
GUJAR KHAN: An 18-year-old girl, Rugalya Bibi, was burned to death by her own parents in the Jhelum district. Police have arrested the parents for torching the girl to death.
According to Jhelum police, the girl was brought to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital on Thursday and succumbed to her burn injuries.
When the police asked the parents about the incident they gave contradicting statements. The victim’s father said she suffered burn injuries after a cylinder blast at home while the mother said she set herself on fire by pouring kerosene oil on herself.
When police investigated further, it emerged that the suspects doubted the character of their daughter and allegedly burnt her to death in the name of honour.
A case was registered by Pind Dadan Khan police after carrying out the medico-legal of the victim and the parents were held by the police.
