Woman murdered by brother over property dispute

One Abid Ali, a former police officer, shot dead his sister Sajida (50) over a property dispute before taking his own life. The incident occurred in Lahore’s Nawankot on Tuesday.

According to police, Abid had been dismissed from service.

Prior to the incident, police state that Sajida had visited her brother regarding her share of an inherited property, however he refused to do so until the two came to an agreement on how to divide it.

On Tuesday, Abid visited his sister regarding the same matter and an argument ensued, during which he pulled out his pistol and opened fire on Sajida, killing her on the spot. Abid then later killed himself with the same gun.

Crackdown against PTI workers in Karachi

Karachi police on Tuesday arrested over a dozen activists and workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from different parts of the city in an overnight operation.

According to police, the arrests were made in connection to violence near the Quaid’s mausoleum on May 25. Meanwhile, the PTI, on the other hand, termed the arrests a part of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) alleged campaign of political revenge, as well as an attempt to meddle in the local government elections.

Policeman injured in firing by security forces

Security personnel near the Salim Interchange in Sargodha allegedly tortured policemen on duty at a checkpoint, and shot and injured at least one officer.

According to the FIR, two agents on the orders of their superior officer opened fire on constable Asad, who received a bullet in his leg. The injured officer’s leg had to be amputated due to an infection.
