While no arrests have been made as of yet, the Punjab Government has stated that the case is being investigated using modern technology.

Decline in repatriation of Afghan refugees

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), only about a hundred Afghan refugees voluntarily returned to Afghanistan during the first four months of this year, comprising a six percent drop from numbers recorded in the first quarter of 2021. The UNHCR added that prominent factors for the decline in repatriated refugees are the deteriorating economic and human rights situation in Afghanistan.
