Students and teachers of the Balochistan University in Quetta on Tuesday, November 9, sealed all entrances to the campus in protest of the abduction of two Pakistan Studies students, Sohail and Fasihullah Baloch of Noshki district, from their hostel rooms on November 1.
Baloch Qadir, Central Information Secretary of the Baloch Student Organization (BSO) told Voicepk.net that protesters have locked the gates in condemnation of the university administration’s failure to take any action in the case. He further said that demonstrations will continue till the safe recovery of their comrades.
“Students here staged a sit-in outside the Vice-Chancellor’s secretariat and met with the university administration to urge them to play their role in the recovery of the two students,” he explained, adding that the administration however did not do anything in this regard, which is why students have boycotted all classes in protest. “We demand that the administration and the Government of Balochistan do their part in the safe recovery of [Sohail and Fasihullah], who are regular students and toppers, and find out why they were forcibly disappeared.”
The protesters are barring people from entering or leaving the premises, and have boycotted exams and classes altogether.
“This is not a matter of just two students,” said Agha Adnan Shah, Central Committee Member of the BSO. “This is a matter that concerns all students of Balochistan University.”
Due to the protests, other students are unable to sit for their exams and are facing difficulties.
“[Sohail and Fasihullah] disappeared from the Balochistan University hostel at around seven in the evening of November 1. Today is November 9 and Balochistan University students are boycotting all classes and exams until both boys are recovered,” Mumtaz Qazi, Student University of Balochistan told Voicepk.net.
Police officials say that a case regarding Sohail and Fasihullah’s disappearance has been lodged at the CPC police station and that an investigation is underway.
