Khawaja sira shot dead in Karachi
A 65 year old khawaja sira guru was shot dead on Monday, April 5, in her home in Gulshan-e-Latif, Karachi.
According to the police, Muhammad Siddique, also known as Mumtaz, was in his home with three others when two people riding on a motorbike arrived outside. One of them dismounted and entered the house, asking for Mumtaz. Upon identifying himself, Mumtaz was shot by the assailant twice.
The attackers managed to flee, while Mumtaz was pronounced dead on arrival at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center. Police believe the motive behind the murder is jealousy.
Five IS terrorists held in Lahore
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Monday busted an Islamic State (IS) cell at the Masjid Tauheed Ahle Sunna at Farooq Azam Chowk, Nadirabad (near Defence Housing Authority) and arrested five members of the proscribed outfit.
The militants, identified as Abdul Rehman Butt, Malik Kashif, Muhammad Ishtiaq, Nazifullah and Zia-ur-Rehman, all hailed from Sialkot. CTD officials state that the terrorists were found to be attempting to recruit new members, distributing hateful material, and collecting funds for militant activities in Afghanistan and Pakistan. 40 banned books and a ledger containing the IS monogram.
Boy returns after wandering into India
Eight-year-old Kareem Dino of Chachro, Tharparkar, who was taken into custody by the Indian Border Security Forces after accidentally wandering into India on April 3, was safely returned to his family on Monday.
