Man kills wife over domestic dispute in Hasilpur
One Muhammad Sharif shot dead his wife, Kulsoom (32) in the Gulshanabad area of Hasilpur, Punjab. The suspect had initially told police his wife had been murdered by assailants, but upon further questioning confessed to shooting her in the head because of regular domestic disputes. Neighbours affirmed that the couple often quarreled. Police have shifted the body to a morgue and are now awaiting the autopsy report.
Shia missing persons protest enters fourth consecutive day
Family and friends of victims of enforced disappearances at the Karachi Numaish Chowrangi sit-in, organized by the Joint Action Committee for Shia Missing Persons, has now entered its fourth consecutive day on Monday, 5th April. Protesters had earlier stated that the Karachi sit-in will continue until Shia missing persons are returned home or produced before a court if they have been accused of a crime. Now, demonstrators have threatened to turn the ongoing rallies in different parts of the country to permanent sit-ins as well if their demands are not met.
Man held for humiliating another in Swabi
Police on Saturday, April 3, arrested one Shamsul Qamar for stripping his ‘rival’, a resident of Hund village, and parading him naked in Chota Lahor tehsil of Swabi. According to the victim, he was humiliated as revenge for allegedly insulting a woman from Qamar’s family some day’s back. Police state that the victim was initially unwilling to file his complaint as he belonged to an impoverished household.
