Lahore woman dies days after being stabbed by husband

One Rubina, a resident of Shalimar in Lahore, who had been gravely wounded after being stabbed by her husband Ejaz some days back, succumbed to her injuries while under treatment at a hospital on Wednesday, April 28.

According to police, Ejaz and Rubina often quarreled. She was also subjected to domestic abuse by her husband. On the day of the incident, the couple had a row over a minor issue following which Ejaz assailed her with a blade.

A case has been registered.

Man shoots dead wife for obtaining khula in Kurianwala

One Sajid Khan shot dead his ex-wife Noorin Kausar, a resident of Millat Town in Kurianwala, for obtaining a divorce while he was in jail in a drug case on Wednesday.

The 38-year-old woman was the mother of four children. According to police, Noorin was regularly tortured by her husband. During Ejaz’s detention, she approached the court citing her husband’s ‘bad character’ as her reason for obtaining khula.

Upon his release, Sajid along with an accomplice, Iftikhar Ahmed, went to her residence and shot her dead before fleeing. Millat Town police have registered a case against the two suspects on the complaint of the deceased’s son, Arsalan Khan. The body was handed over to her heirs after an autopsy.

Families barred from meeting prisoners in Punjab

The Punjab Government has suspended meetings between inmates and their families in prisons across ten districts for 15 days due to the rising trend in COVID-19 infections in the province. The Home Department also further directed the Punjab Prisons Inspector General, Deputy Inspector General and provincial superintendents to ensure implementation of coronavirus standard operating procedures and guidelines.
