Seminary teacher rapes minor boy

Lalian police booked a seminary teacher under sections 372 (selling a minor for purposes for prostitution) and section 18 of the Motion Pictures Ordinance 1979 after coming across a video of the suspect raping a minor boy. Police were able to trace the family of the rape survivor, a resident of Adda Sheikhan, who confirmed the incident but expressed reluctance in pressing charges as they feared retaliation from the accused’s supporters. The case was registered after assurances from police, however the accused seminary teacher is on the run.

Cholistan faces water shortage

Residents of areas in Cholistan falling under Liaqatpur and Khanpur tehsils are forced to travel several kilometers to Kallarwala Khoh to get potable (drinkable) water as the summer heat begins to deplete water resources. Residents claim that the Cholistan Development Authority had made arrangements for the supply of water to these areas via tankers but rolled them back after 15 days.

Alarm as daily COVID-19 cases continue to increase exponentially, with this year’s highest positivity rate (9.47%) was recorded on Friday, March 19, as 3,876 fresh infections were reported across the country. 42 succumbed to the novel coronavirus disease, with Punjab reporting highest number of fatalities at 25 deaths.
