Man guns down two for ‘honour’ in Sukkur
One Asghar Mirani, a resident of Mirani village near Pano Aqil, Sukkur, shot dead his sister Zainab and their relative Abbas for ‘honour’ on Sunday, February 28. According to locals, Asghar had accused his sister of having an affair with Abbas before shooting her dead in their home. He then tracked down and killed the alleged paramour, and managed to flee. Police are on the hunt for the absconded suspect, meanwhile the deceased have been shifted to Pano Aqil taluka hospital for an autopsy.
Minor girl raped, murdered in Attock
A nine year old girl who was reported missing by her parents on Saturday night turned up dead Sunday morning in an under-construction house near Chach Interchange in Attock. A postmortem confirmed that the minor was raped before being strangled to death with a rope.
According to the deceased’s parents, her family had arrived in Nartopa village, Hazro, to attend the wedding of a relative. On Saturday, she had left with her mother to attend an engagement party but went missing. A case has been lodged under sections 302 (intended murder) and 376 (rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code. A special team has been constituted to apprehend the culprits.
Rape spree in Chak Jhumra, Gujar Khan
Four rape incidents were reported between Saturday and Sunday in Chak Jhumra near Faisalabad and in Gujar Khan, Rawalpindi district.
Two cousins aged 12 and 14 were gang-raped at gunpoint by suspects Naveed and Ali in 56-JB, Chak Jhumra, on Sunday. According to the FIR, the boys had gone to attend a function when they were approached by the suspects who claimed they had been sent by the boys’ families and lured them on the pretext of taking them home. Along the way, the suspects pulled a gun on the minors and then raped them in a nearby crop field.
A 20-year-old woman was gang-raped at gunpoint by a group of unknown men after they broke into her home in 330-GB, Chak Jhumra. The rape survivor is currently under treatment at a hospital, meanwhile a case has been registered under section 376 of the PPC.
Gujar Khan Police arrested two for molesting minors in separate incidents. On Saturday, police held a man for luring and raping a 13-year-old boy, while the survivor has been shifted to a hospital for a medico-legal examination. In the second incident, the mother of an eight-year-old girl alleged that her brother-in-law took the minor to his home where he subjected her to sexual assault on Sunday. Police arrested the accused and obtained his DNA sample, meanwhile the medico-legal report of the rape survivor is expected.
