Landi Kotal and Bara get courts

Landi Kotal and Bara tehsils of Khyber district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa get civil courts under the directives of the Peshawar High Court to extend access to justice to people of former FATA. Furthermore, the district headquarter in Jamrud will be shifted to a designated building that will be repurposed for court activities in two months time, following which all courts in the Khyber district will be made functional.

Police kill two drug pushers in ‘encounter’

Two drug dealers were allegedly killed in friendly fire following a police raid on their hideout in the Malaah neighbourhood of Jhelum city on Sunday, February 22.

According to Jhelum police, the outlaws began firing while their families, including women, began pelting the raiding party with bricks and planters. Officers were able to enter the premises when the firing stopped and found two of the outlaws dead, whom police claim were killed by their accomplices’ indiscriminate shooting. Two other suspects managed to flee while three officers suffered injuries.

Jhelum police further stated that the deceased were wanted in several other cases, and were being pursued by the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.

Kohat launches mental health helpline

The district health department has set up a telehealth facility to provide therapy and psychiatric treatment to those suffering from depression, anxiety and other such afflictions during the pandemic situation, as well as their families on how to manage patients. Two female psychologists will be available to take patients between 10 AM and 11 AM from Mondays to Wednesdays.
